I am writing to express my appreciation for the work of Mr Abel, our dedicated English teacher. As a student, I have witnessed the positive impact Mr Abel has had on the academic growth and personal development of their students, including myself.

Mr Abel's commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment has truly made a difference. Through his teaching methods, patience and dedication, he has helped me improve my grades, from a C6 (57%) to a B3 (65%) in English. 

Furthermore, Mr Abel goes above and beyond to ensure that the students feel valued and supported. His willingness to provide extra help, guidance and encouragement has been instrumental in boosting confidence and academic performance.

I firmly believe that Mr Abel embodies the qualities of an amazing educator. His passion for teaching, care for students and tireless dedication to his profession makes him a reliable teacher at Shi Lin.

Abel is a good teacher. He is very friendly and has helped me a lot. He encourages you to do your best and does his best to help you. My Science has improved a lot since I have been under Shi Lin Learning Centre's care.

Teachers go the extra mile!

 

Teacher Abel is a wonderful and patient teacher. He goes out of his way to help us students achieve great results and guarantee us a bright future. For example, during my December holidays, he helped my classmates and me put together our portfolio, which will help us in our Early Admission Exercise (EAE) for admission to our Polytechnic. The study environment is very conducive, as he will encourage us with gifts if we exceed our goals. He is very funny, which is great so his students would not be stressed about their studies. You will never find such a caring and friendly teacher like him. Though he can be childish, he is still serious about his students' academic results.

 Teacher Abel is a very funny and cheerful teacher who changes the tense atmosphere in the class. He ensures that we enjoy studying. As such, this enables us students to strive and work harder to achieve better results.

I've been having tuition here for a long time, and the teachers here are friendly and approachable. Teacher Wee Han has been teaching me Science for a while, and I feel that my science has greatly improved. He explains every question in great detail and makes sure that I understand every topic well. He also assures me that I can ask any questions and not be afraid to ask.

Through attending lessons here, I am able to put in many hours of focused and undivided attention into revising for Additional Mathematics in an conclusive environment, leading to a tremendous improvement in my grades and understanding of the subject; a stark contrast to when I was failing the subject previously. Even though I had many questions, the teacher managed to clear all of my doubts and was willing to go the extra mile, giving me additional practice when requested. Overall, I am satisfied with the lessons provided here and am confident that I will do well in my O-Levels examination.

In our tuition centre, we have a teacher who can teach Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. He will give you a paper, and after finishing the paper, he will tell you why your answer was wrong. There are other teachers who teach different subjects well. The environment of the tuition centre is good.

Despite receiving a really mediocre result for my Prelims, the tuition teachers’ belief in my potential still remained unshaken. Since my E-Mathematics results went from constant failing to a high A2 in Prelims, they believed they could do the same for my Chinese results. And I did. The teachers also took time off their schedule to guide me through countless Chinese TYS questions, ensuring I had understood and fully grasped the concept of the passages. Although it was tiring, my hard work paid off when my results for O’Level Chinese was a beautiful A1. I give my heartfelt thanks to the teachers of Shi Lin Learning Centre for their patience and trust in my capability, for without them, I would have already lost half the battle, and my results would not have been so marvellous that day.

I failed badly in Science during Prelims 2. However, things took a turn for the better. For the first time, I passed Science for my O’s, and I did well in Mathematics (AMaths & EMaths)! I was very happy when I received my results. Now, I can go to my desired course at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Child Psychology)! All my tutors have been very helpful and patient in guiding me whenever I need help or have any doubts. Thank you to my tutors and Shi Lin!

I have been failing math & science since Secondary 3. I almost gave up until I was introduced to Shi Lin Learning Centre. My tutor, Wee Han, was very patient and responsible. He patiently taught me and answered my questions whenever I was in doubt. I passed my math & science for my O’s in the end! Thank you, Shi Lin!

Math has always been my weakest subject. I tried many methods but couldn't improve. However, the teachers at Shi Lin have teaching methods that work for every student: encouragement, practice, patience, building up from the basics... Learning step by step, I gradually gained back my confidence. My exam scores went from the 30s to 40s, and then pushed towards the 50s... Unbelievably, I scored an 'A' for my PSLE. That letter seriously made me so happy. I'm grateful to the caring teachers at the tuition centre for their help and encouragement.

一直以来，数学是我弱项。用了很多方式都无法进步。仕林老师教学有一套方法，却能针对所有学生。‘鼓励，多做，耐心，从底学起。。。’从一步一脚印学起，渐渐地我开始有自信，恢复信心。考试分数从 3 头，跳到 4 头，再向 5 投。。。迈进。从小六会考难以置信地考了个“A”。令我振奋的英文字母。我感谢补习中心的体会老师给于我的帮忙。鼓励和帮助。

Damien was a mischievous (well-known tyrant in Ang Mo Kio) student. He did not want to study at all and seemed to be giving up on his studies. I insisted on putting him here at Shi Lin Learning Centre, and the teachers here did not give up on him. The teacher is patient towards him and gives him all of the care and concern. It was a good choice for me to put him here. In the past, he only got single digits for his subjects, but now he passes all of his subjects.  We thought he might not be able to pass his PSLE. However, he ended up getting an A for science in PSLE and passed all the rest of the subjects. A big thank you to all the teachers who have taught him.

I am very grateful and thankful to all of you! From Primary 4 to Secondary 4, it has been 6 years of learning experience at Shi Lin Learning Centre.
I remember when I first came, I feared that I would just waste my time, but this tuition centre did not give up on me even when I was in the EM3 stream back then. The teachers are all very patient and passionate in every way they teach.

Through the first few months, I was able to read and write tremendously better than before. I could feel the effectiveness in the way they taught. Since then, my ‘fate’ of always getting the last position without fail to my present self consistently gets top ten positions in class, I managed to get into a good Secondary School with outstanding PSLE results, and I am far beyond satisfied.

During my years in Mayflower Secondary School, I held a key role in my CCA, St. John Ambulance Brigade. Hence, there were times when I had to rush between school, tuition and CCAs. When I was in Secondary 2, I picked up a part-time job and my free time for revision was reduced at that point. Nevertheless, I accelerated in my academics with much help from Shi Lin Learning Centre.

This tuition centre also instils a sense of importance in studies. With ample practice, I topped my school’s GCE ‘N’ Level Examinations in 2010, achieving 4 credits for English, Elementary Mathematics, Science and Computer Applications. Progressing onto a course of my choice in Nitec Aerospace Avionics at ITE College Central, Yishun, even though I am eligible to transfer to the Normal Academic stream. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my patient and determined maths teacher of mine, Eugene!

Shi Lin Learning Centre provides knowledgeable and extremely dedicated teachers who have a great passion for teaching. Alongside the great learning environment, Shilin Learning Centre has given me the optimal education. My grades for Physics, Chemistry, and Additional Mathematics have improved significantly over the course of one year! For example, my physics and chemistry grades have jumped from a mere C6 to an outstanding A1/A2 in my O levels! However, the credit goes not only to me, but also to the teachers in this fine institution. A big thank you to Shi Lin Learning Centre!

As a typical ‘O’ Level student, I often had to stay back after school for remedial and extra lessons. I was also holding a job then, and hence my only free time was occupied with work. I was always rushing between school, home and my workplace. I had to work till 10 pm or even later, and could only get to bed at around 12 am.

My hectic schedule affected my ability to concentrate during lessons. This resulted in my poor performance in school as well as my slipping grades. From Secondary 3 onwards, it became more difficult for me to grasp the syllabus. My grades were not ideal. Furthermore, the remedial lessons in school did little to improve my understanding of the topics.

Determined to improve my academic performance, I sought the help of Shi Lin Learning Centre. Initially, it seemed to be conducted in a similar way to any other remedial and school lessons-boring and a waste of time. However, I came to realise that my grades were gradually improving. Words of encouragement from my teachers spurred me on to achieve greater heights.

After having tuition for some time, I topped the class for the first time in a Physics test. My grades for Mathematics have improved enormously. Despite that, I still could not make it to the Psychology and Community Service course in Ngee Ann Polytechnic with the 16 points I attained for my preliminary examination.

Nevertheless, Shi Lin Learning Centre did not give up on me. Instead, I was pushed harder. After all the hard work, I managed to score 9 points during the ‘O’ levels and am able to enter the course of my choice.

I would like to thank all the teachers in Shi Lin Learning Centre for all the help and support that they have rendered to me. I really appreciate it and will never forget the things that I have learnt at Shi Lin Learning Centre.
